No matter which API wins, we will still - so far as I can see - be dumped into HTML TEXTAREA widgets to compose the content that is the ultimate purpose of all this blogging.

Yes, the content is the most important part, but HTML TEXTAREA?!

Some of us are doing our utmost to move beyond such crude techniques for content creation. Note that I say "content creation" rather than authoring - it's a significant difference.
