A: A stick.
Q: What's Stiki?
A: The name of my Wiki app, based on CharlesMillerWiki.
I think the naming of apps is dead important, not especially because of the marketing angle or anything like that, but because of the psychological effect - giving something a name makes it a lot more concrete in our mind [insert bible and/or Chomsky quote].
Anyhow, I've gone for Stiki as a contraction of Semantic Text Wiki. I'm already using the name SemText for the in-progress search engine for IdeaGraph, which will also be usable with this Wiki.
Another nice thing about having a name is that it provides an excuse to play with images :
Anyhow, so far I've changed the persistence in the original code (JOS) so it now uses regular text files. Next up there are a couple of syntax additions I want :
[now] - to insert the current date/time as a link to a new page (the page will be a regular Wiki page)
[today] - as above, but linked to a dynamically generated page featuring all the [now] pages with todays date.
At that point I'll start dogfood eating with it.
