Somewhere in the recent Atom discussion about handling user markup I mentioned TeX as an example of markup that an end-user might want to type into their blog. I wasn't really serious about being a likely option, but a post to the MediaWiki mailing list from Peter Danenberg just changed my mind.
This WikiTeX (provisional) prototype takes math, music or chess TeX markup, generates an inline gif image from it - equations, score AND playable midi or chessboard.
The following is my attempt at the bass line to a well-known
1970's disco number. The markup looks like this:
<rend class="music" style="tempo: 250">
\notes \relative c { \key c \major
c8 c8 g8 b8
|
c8 c8 g8 b8
|
c8 c8 g8 b8
|
c8 c8 g8 b8
}
</rend>
As if by magic (it really is!), here it is rendered:
and
midi
version
Hmm, sounds more like the ants theme from Tom and Jerry…am I showing my age..?
