Defining N-ary
Relations on the Semantic Web: Use With Individuals, Yoshio
Fukushige has done what he intends as a generalization of "pattern
2″, the one with roles:
:Purchase_1
a :Purchase ;
:buyer :John ;
:object :Lenny_The_Lion ;
:purpose :Birthday_Gift ;
:seller :books.example.com .
PS. d'oh! here's the link to
Yoshio's
material
The examples go further into covering roles, themes, and also look at causal relationships and uncertainty (something that's interested me for a long time ). In a sense these are a specialised use of the generalized structural pattern, but really common (and useful!).
With the treatment of roles and themes I was reminded right away of Sowa and co's Conceptual Graphs (especially since I was looking at them half an hour earlier). Yoshio has nicer graphics ;-)
Hmm, I wonder if this may also help with my simmering project modelling stuff - which came up yet again yesterday when talking about a rules engine.
