Semantic Web Clipboard@en

I was holding off posting about this until I had time to do it justice - Benjamin Nowack's excellent demo -

...an attempt to implement a limited, Web-based version of Tim Berners-Lee's RDF clipboard idea from 2004.

The approach is similar to Ray Ozzie's Live Clipboard ( announcement), but a bit more cross-app-friendly and easier to implement.

It's using a compelling mix of RDF, SPARQL and Ajax/JSON. ( Lee Feigenbaum has instructions and a bit more explanation). But Benjamin just mailed me some instructions which show off another part of the demo, meant I couldn't hold off posting this any longer:

1) go to http://www.sparqlets.org/ clipboard/demo

2) right-click on the clipboard icon next to your [my] name

in the list of "Bloggers and Blogs"

3) "copy"

3) open http://tinyurl.com/zr2sj

4) right-click on the clipboard icon [down near the bottom of the page]

5) "paste"

The tinyurl includes a query which is used alongside the details supplied across the copy-paste, the result being very impressive! (Despite my poorly-maintained data).

Note that although the material on the clipboard is the same whether you use the main demo page or the second one, the information displayed is different, determined at the receiver.

PS. Benjamin explains how it's done:

Web Clipboard: Adding liveliness to "Live Clipboard" with eRDF, JSON, and SPARQL.
