Jim Hendler has posted his slides Dark Side of the Semantic Web (pdf), and in a blog post explains the background. He's not talking about the Sith but the dark side of the moon. This is from the point of view of many in the research community, who tend to focus on the hardcore logic side of ontologies. While such work is immensely valuable, I think Jim's spot on when he talks of how the Semantic Web vision is evolving, in particular about the action down where it connects with the existing Web (2.0, 3.0...). • The "low end Semantic Web, powered by technologies such as GRDDL, SPARQL, and "OWL Mini" is showing tremendous promise – Closer to Web 2.0 in complexity and implementation

• Can embed the power of the Semantic Web in traditional Web apps

Jim's title begs for another cultural reference. Side 2, Track 1 : Money
