Richard MacManus at Read/Write Web posts " 10 Web trends to look out for over the next 10 years":
- Semantic Web
- Artificial Intelligence
- Virtual Worlds
- Mobile
- Attention Economy
- Web Sites as Web Services
- Online Video / Internet TV
- Rich Internet Apps
- International Web
- Personalization
I'm a little bewildered. There are oddments I'd probably add (maybe more on commoditization of services, lower-case grid parallelization and likely tectonic shifts around open data/social networks), and some of the details of the post are perhaps questionable (I'd fill no.2 with agents), and I'd maybe categorise/weigh things a little differently, marginally shorter timescale... - but these are minor quibbles. Essentially I seem to agree with this list, weird.
This is great news for SWEO. Read/WriteWeb is a popular, mainstream Web 2.0ish kind of site (although Richard, Alex & co. do seem unusually clued in to what's going on). It'll be interesting to watch the comments and style of any pushback. I wonder if we'll get the old metacrap cliches naively trotted out again, or something better informed this time around.
There may be a systematic error, as suggested by this comment:
@enThese are not future web trends, these are current trends.
