Just listening to the Nine Inch Nail's new instrumental release, Ghosts I-IV and one track (34 Ghost IV - click listen, skip forward about 3 tracks in the Flash player) revived a niggling curiosity I've had for a few years. It's a riff I've heard in a handful of different interpretations, mostly ambient/quasi-dance. No idea where it originated. It's a catchy, slightly haunting, never quite resolving thing. Not sure when I first heard it, but I'm pretty sure it was in an advert, I think for BBC 3 which launched in 2003. Anyone recognise it?

[Boo, I just went to order the whole album for $5 (!) but
they're having technical difficulties]
